Canton E-Cig Ban Defeated… Maybe?

There’s very little news at this hour of the results of the hearing in Canton, Massachusetts over a proposal to ban electronic cigarettes from that city. If passed, Canton’s Board of Health would have made it the first city in the U.S. to completely outlaw the use of electronic cigarettes.

Early reports, according to a post by Greg Conley of CASAA on the E-Cigarette Forum, are that the Board of Health did not enact a total ban, but may have “accidentally banned the sale of e-cigarette cartridges and liquid.”

Snus and dissolvable tobacco products (snus) apparently were banned. Cigarettes, however, are still completely legal in Canton, although the minimum age to purchase them has been raised to 21.

We’ll have more on the results of the hearing as news becomes available.

Update: The Patriot Ledger has more on the story.
